Jonathan O Donovan

Townland: Clooncunnig

DOB: 17/02/1975

Height: 6' 00''

Occupation: Garda

Favourite Position: H   Wing Back        F Full Back

Junior Debut: Can't really remember I am that old. I can remember playing corner back against St. Colums in the West Cork junior b final in Castlehaven. I think it was 92 or 93

Most memorable GAA Game: Winning the 2005 football semi final in bandon against plunketts. massive kick start to a memorable year. I got to play in that too... thanks Ken and Mackey!!!!!!!!!!

Most memorable St. James GAA Moment: Winning the U-16 football against Ballinascarthy in Timoleague a long long time ago. Remember it well though. What celebrations after one hard years training.

Earliest St. James’ GAA Club memory: Changing in an old green scrap heap of a bus up in the pitch and all broken glass on the floor. dressing rooms??? what were they???? and we loved the craic.

GAA Player you admire most: Tony Browne of Waterford is a serious player and has massive determination and commitment at his age.

Best player you have played against: a lot of good battles with Frankie Arundel through the years at underage all the way up. He is after aging better though!!!!!

Best player you have played with: Owen O Mahony from Clon on a Garda team. some operator with a football in his day.

Honours won: u12 and u16 and u21 southwests with the mountain. One County and one Munster medal with the Gardai in Cork a few years back. A couple of college medals with the community college aswell.

Greatest Influence on your career: i suppose my father because he brought me to alot of inter county games when i was a small boy (which is a long time ago) and he used to drive us to all our matches at u12 and u14 matches in the back of his van even though he would drive me mad at the matches shouting at me!!!

What you like most about St. James’ GAA club: definitely it is a big family orientated club and the comradery. massive club.

Favourite St. James’ GAA Supporter: I don't know really. John R. O' Donovan maybe. He is at every match in fairness and you will always leave for the match early for fear of being caught behind him on the road.........

Any other comments you would like to include: UP THE MOUNTAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
