St James’ GAA Membership 2011 

Annual membership of the club (which includes membership of the gym) is now due for renewal. All existing members are urged to renew without delay, and new members are most welcome. Membership subscription fees are vital for the running of the club, and the club is keen to enroll new members and to renew existing memberships as quickly as possible. A membership-renewal drive will be held this Thursday 10th February during under-age training. St James’ Under-Age Club: AGM Report 
At the St James’ Under-Age Club AGM, held on 1 February, the year past was reviewed, new officers were elected and plans for the development of the club were discussed. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of ensuring that training is enjoyable and that children are respected. The need for greater parental involvement was also highlighted, not least with training. A foundation course for parents wishing to become involved in training under-age teams will be held in the near future, and interested parents are asked to contact club officers (the course will be held in the sports complex if feasible; more information will be made available nearer the time). An information night for parents will be held shortly (details to be finalised), and all parents of under-age players are encouraged to attend. (Note: the under-age club has responsibility for the minors.) 

The election of club officers followed reports from the outgoing chairperson, Bernie Leonard, and also from the secretary (Michael Kearns), treasurer (Micheál McCarthy (Brittas)) and St James’ coaching officer (Alec Butler). Donal Sheehan was elected as the new chairperson, with Charlie McPeake elected as assistant chairperson. Michael Kearns was returned as secretary, Kay Oats was returned as assistant secretary, and Helen Scully continues as child-safety officer. Dominic Carroll is the new communications officer (with thanks to outgoing CO Eleanor Hayes). Other committee members include Alec Butler, Liam Evans, Declan Carroll and Pat Hayes. Micheál McCarthy will continue to act as treasurer for both the under-age club and the junior section. The committee hopes to co-opt additional members as the need arises and as more parents become involved in running the club. 

New Indoor Fun Multi-Sports for Under-6 and Under-8: Friday 6–7pm 
The emphasis will be on co-ordination, balance, agility and, most important, FUN. The session is open to children born no later than 2007. Children are asked to bring €2 per family per week (i.e. no family is asked to pay more than €2 a week regardless of how many children participate in indoor sports – usually, the eldest child brings the €2).

Indoor Hurling: Under-10 and Under-12: Thursdays 6.15–7.15pm 
€2 per family per week (i.e. no family is asked to pay more than €2 a week regardless of how many children participate in indoor sports – usually, the eldest child brings the €2). Helmets and hurleys are available for purchase from the club. 

St James’ Sports Complex Work Day: Saturday 11am
Club members are asked to give an hour or two on Saturday mornings to get the hall ready for the official opening in April.
