Minor Football League (played in Ardfield)
Caheragh 3-14 St James’ 1-7
The minor footballers took something of a pummeling at the hands of Caheragh in this match played on a perfect Wednesday evening on a perfect Ardfield pitch. Caheragh’s Cork minor Brian O’Driscoll always presents a special kind of challenge, and though Thomas Nyhan made life difficult for him, O’Driscoll was very influential in bringing off the win for Caheragh.

The St James’ game plan depended on the quick long ball, and Tadhg Casey invariably made something of it whenever it arrived, scoring  a superb goal and two points, and earning the frees that Shaun Goggin duly dispatched. James Hayes was given the job of winning the ball around midfield and supplying the forwards, and he was well able for the task. Niall Evans was also very dependable, whilst Ruairc Courtney-Fitzpatrick was often in the thick of the action. A pity, then, that the team as a whole was unable to get the better of their opponents.

Team: Pa Keohane, Thomas Nyhan, Harry Creagh, Brian O’Donovan, Ruairc Courtney-Fitzpatrick, Reuben O’Hea, Niall Evans, Ewan Courtney-Fitzpatrick, James Hayes 0-1, Shaun Goggin 0-4, Seán O’Connor, Tadhg Casey 1-2. Subs: Danny O’Connor, Jack Butler
