St James’ 2-6 Kilmeen 0-5
On a day where only the brave ventured out, with gale-force winds and driving rain, St James’ junior footballers faced up to Kilmeen at St James’ park for round three of the junior A league. It was not a day for fancy football – rather, a game where pride in the parish and club was the driving force. Scores were hard to come by, and at the break Kilmeen led 0-3 to 0-2. A well-taken goal by St James’ Mark Evans set the tone for the second half. A superb point from Damien Bennett extended the lead, followed by a James O’Sullivan goal. St James’, having accumulated six league points from the opening three games, head the league table. Next up is the opening game of the hurling league, against St Mary’s in Ballineen this Sunday at 12pm.
Team: Diarmuid O’Donovan, David Hayes,Tadhg Feen, Eoin Feen, Micheal McCarthy (D) (0-1), Donnacha McCarthy, Aaron Hayes, Kevin O’Leary, Paul O’Sullivan, Seamus McCarthy, Mark Evans (1-3), Joseph O’Sullivan, Kieran O’Donovan,James O’Sullivan (1-0), Niall Evans.
