Junior Football League Campaign begins with a win
St James 3-14 Kilbrittain 0-4 (Game played Sunday Feb 23rd)
While it was nice to get the Junior A Football League campaign off to a win, the new Management Team of Finbarr McCarthy, Conor Hegarty and Diarmuid Keohane will have hoped to have had a sterner test. In fairness to Kilbrittain their Players gave their all but St James proved to be a much stronger outfit on the day. It was one-way traffic from early on in this encounter with some very good individual performances on a pitch that looks to have wintered well.
Team: Pa Keohane, Eoin Feen, David Hayes, Tadgh Feen (0-1), Tadgh Casey, Michéal McCarthy (Brittais), Michéal McCarthy (Dunnycove) (0-1), Kevin O'Brien, James O'Driscoll (3-1), Donnacha McCarthy (0-2), Seamus McCarthy, James O'Sullivan, Ian Evans (0-5), Paul O'Sullivan (0-2), Brian O'Donovan. Subs used: Danny O'Connor for J.O'Sullivan, Kevin O'Leary for T.Casey, Mark O'Brien for J.O'Driscoll, Fergal Beamish for T.Feen, Shane O'Driscoll (0-2) for B.O'Donovan.
Next Sunday (Sunday Mar 2nd) should prove a much tougher test with St Oliver Plunketts make the trip to St James with a 3.30pm throw-in. The day before (Saturday Mar 1st) the U-21 Footballers kick off their Championship campaign with their first of three Group games against Goleen in Skibbereen at 4pm. Please come along and support both Teams.
