Under-16 Football League Final (28th October 2012)
St James' 3-11 Ballingeary 2-7

The under-16 footballers of St James’ added the league title to their championship title to secure a fabulous double by beating Ballingeary by seven points in Dunmanway last Sunday. Eight first-half points – four from under-14 player Seán O’Reilly – met with a meagre Ballingeary response of 1-2. Ballingeary came back into it during the second half, and got to within four points of St James on two occasions, but each time St James’ found more scores to pull away. Goals, as always, were of critical importance, the first for St James’ scored by Kevin Horan early in the second half, with two more scored late in the game by Jack Butler, who played an inspirational game as captain of the team.

Every player on the panel played a part on the pitch, bar James Taylor (recovering from injury), and each deserved credit for a fabulous football season for the under-16s. Credit, too, must go to mentors Fachtna O’Connor and James O’Sullivan.

Panel: Adam Ahern, Cian McPeake (0-1), Brandon Creagh, Seán O’Connor, Brian Lombard (0-1), Peter Walsh, Euan Courtney, Aaron Hayes (0-1), Jack Hurley, Kevin Horan (1-1), Jack Butler (2-1), James Taylor (0-1), Seán O’Reilly (0-5), Alan Butler, Ciarán O’Donovan, Peter Whelton, Joseph O’Sullivan
